From
this page you can access all the letters of the alphabet
associated with The Sussex Matchbox Labels Simplified On Line Encyclopaedia.
The indexes are continually being updated as more and more
labels are added. The index entry is made up of
either 9 or 10 rows each of which are as follows:
1. The flag of the Country of Origin or a symbolic flag where a direct country is not involved (Foreign Made for example) and letterpress of the country code and country. 2. The circa (c) date or registered (r) date of the label, set or series. Where the date of issue is highly questionable, [est] will be added after the date. Where a label is issued over a number of years, the start and finish year will be displayed. 3. The title of the label, set[unnumbered labels] or series [numbered labels] where this is known or the defined title, of which the methodology in reaching this title is documented elsewhere within this encyclopedia. 4. The letterpress country of origin where known, along with any other pertinent information that helps to identify the label, set or series. 5. The contents as displayed on the label and where appropriate, the price as stated on the label. 6. On line one: The size of the label in millimetres and in the format horizontal x vertical. These measurements are borderline to borderline or edge to edge. Where the label is printed edge to edge, the word overall is added after the size. Additionally, where the same label design is printed in more than one size, the size number will be displayed within squared brackets after the size such as, [size 1] or [size 2] for example. On line two: The type of label which is defined as Box, Packet, Artb or Gross and the word 'Code' which may or may not have a series of numbers after it. These numbers relate to an entry in one of the Sussex Matchbox Labels eCommerce Stores of which the domain addresses are http://www.phillumeny.eu and http://www.matchboxlabels.org.uk This code only assists the web master and has no relevance to the information being displayed for the visitor. 7. Additional information which may be included on the label or which the author feels may be of benefit to the visitor. 8. A thumbnail image of the label which when selected will load a new tabbed page (tabbed browsers) or new page (non-tabbed browsers) displaying a fulled sized image of the label if it is a box, artb, packet or gross or a full description and a set/series of thumbnail images if the thumbnail relates to a set or series. The set or series thumbnails when selected will then load a full size image of the label selected. These additional pages can be closed by the appropriate method for the browser you are using without closing the main index. 9. The Encyclopedia SKU number of the label displayed or if relating to a set or series, the start and end SKU numbers. 10. Where sets or series are displayed, the text 'Click label to go to the set or series'. For single labels, the box will be left blank. All labels, sets or series are listed in strict alphabetical order. In addition, where there is more than one label design with the same title, it will be listed alphabetically by country. If for example a label with the same design and named Cheetah Safety Matches is produced by India and Sweden and another label with a different design but the same title is produced by Italy, then the labels will be listed in the order India, Italy & Sweden even though the same design was produced by India & Sweden. |
